Saturday Morning 10:00 AM Advanced Skate: Lead by Eric - 12.5 to 18.5 Miles
Horticulture Center, East Falls, and East Fairmount Park
The Saturday Morning Skate will head out to the Wissahickon Brewery in the East Falls area of Philadelphia. There will be some hills, mostly on the way outbound. The total distance is about 18.5 miles however, there will be two options to shorten the skate for skaters that want something a bit shorter:
Option 1: At the 6-mile point, sit out the 2.5-mile loop through the Cemetery. It's a nice shady spot, and a small cafe is available while you wait!
Option 2: Skip the brewery visit and return directly to the Art Museum via the Kelly Drive path. It's easy to do unescorted. This would make for a 15-mile skate total (or 12.5 if you also choose Option #1). You'll still have an option to resupply liquids if you take this option.
Starts and ends at the "Rocky Steps"
Highlights:
- Philadelphia Zoo
- Horticultural Center
- 19th Century Laurel Hill West Cemetery
- Amazing 1 mile downhill run (not too steep!)
- Local Wissahickon Brewing Beer/Water stop
- Strawberry Mansion Bridge
- East Fairmount Park Paths/Drives
Water stop - Wissahickon Brewing Co.
